The delegate of the Government in the Community of Madrid, Mercedes González, attended today the inauguration of the 42nd International Contemporary Art Fair - ARCO Madrid, which was presided over by Their Majesties the Kings.
The delegate of the Government has accompanied Don Felipe and Doña Letizia for their tour of the Fair together with other authorities such as the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, or the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida.
This year, the Mediterranean region is the subject of central analysis under the program “The Mediterranean: A Round Sea”, which will revolve around the artistic scenes of the countries that surround this sea, from the south to the north and from coast to coast. In addition, ARCO Madrid 2023 will maintain the usual general programs, of young galleries or the one that strengthens the historical link with Latin American art.
A total of 211 galleries from 36 countries participate in ARCO Madrid 2023 in which the presence of Spanish galleries represents 34% of the fair, with a total of 71. For its part, the international segment stands at 66% -140 -, and of this, 21% is accounted for by the Latin American presence, especially of Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru.
ARCO Madrid is one of the main platforms of the contemporary art market, and it is an essential piece in the international circuit for the promotion and diffusion of artistic creation.
