The delegate of the Government in the Community of Madrid, Mercedes González, attended today the commemorative event for the 199th anniversary of the National Police that has been presided over by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and that has been held in the police complex of Canillas, in Madrid.
It was attended by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez; the Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Isabel Goicoechea; the Director General of the Police, Francisco Pardo; or the Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, among other authorities.
In his speech, the head of Interior highlighted “the great collective work” that is the body, whose founding date was established on January 13, 1824, and which since then maintains “the constitutional mandate to guarantee citizens the full and free exercise of their rights in an area of integral security.”
During the event, members of the National Police have been granted entry into the Order of Police Merit and decorations have been imposed. There has also been a moment of tribute and remembrance for the policemen who died while on duty.
In addition, the official logo of celebration of the Bicentenary of the National Police has been presented, which will take place in 2024 and which has been declared an event of exceptional public interest.
