The campaign to intensify the control of distractions, which the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) carried out in La Rioja from 6 to 12 October, concluded with a total of 92 vehicles reported and 94 proposals for sanctions, being the use of the mobile phone while driving the violation for distraction more common with 40 complaints filed.
The aim of this campaign was to make drivers aware of the need for responsible driving, to reduce the number of traffic accidents, as well as the number of injuries and deaths.
Specifically, the Civil Guard controlled 4,601 vehicles on interurban roads, with the result of 48 vehicles reported with 50 proposals for sanctions for different infractions committed.
In addition, the local police of Arnedo, Calsalvo, Haro and Logroño also collaborated in this campaign. All of them controlled 1,119 vehicles on urban roads, 44 of which were reported.
On both interurban and urban roads, the most frequent sanction proposal is the use of the mobile during driving (40), followed by the use of headphones (19).
