The Council of Ministers has today authorised the proposal for the distribution between the autonomous communities of 7,400,000 euros for application in programmes for the eradication of animal diseases. Once authorized, the Sectoral Conference on Agriculture and Rural Development will approve the territorialized distribution of funds.
The objective of this line is Support for the implementation of programs that allow the control and subsequent eradication of certain animal diseases of importance for their implications in animal health and for the consequent repercussions that they can have both on public health and on exports of Spanish livestock products.
The majority of the funds to be distributed, EUR 7,194,083.52, correspond to the national programme for the control and eradication of bovine tuberculosis, to compensate for the lack of European cofinancing.
The remaining amount, 205,916.48 euros, goes to Aragon and the Balearic Islands, the two communities in which this year the appearance of a new bluetongue serotype has been detected and will be used in the acquisition of vaccines.
