The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, in coordination with the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, activates a comprehensive response to address the workload that the Immigration Offices will assume from May 20 as a result of the entry into force of the new Regulation on Foreigners.
The plan is concretized with a cyclical response that contemplates the imminent incorporation - for an initial period of up to 18 months, extendable - of troops in 25 Immigration Offices in which a greater increase in applications is expected in the first months of validity of the innovations introduced by the Regulation. For this reason, La Rioja will soon incorporate two new troops.
In addition, for a structural strengthening of the service, it is planned that of the more than 1,100 new officials of the C1 and C2 groups that in the coming months will be incorporated into the Government Delegations and Subdelegations, around 500 will also be assigned to the Offices of Foreigners of all the provinces, thus facilitating their structural adaptation to the challenges that the new Regulation on Foreigners brings with it for the coming years.
Organizational and technological measures
Along with the cyclical and structural reinforcement of the staff, the comprehensive response of the Ministry of Territorial Policy also includes additional measures for which several working tables have been activated.
Among the organizational measures, the relocation of management stands out, facilitating that, from the 25 Immigration Offices initially strengthened, applications can also be processed presented in any of the remaining 27 offices if their workload so requires.
For its part, in terms of technology, the Ministry of Territorial Policy has worked with a double objective: on the one hand, to facilitate the electronic submission of applications on the Mercury platform, enabling new forms; and, on the other, to simplify and automate processes to shorten processing times. In short, placing people at the center of attention.
Training session on the new Regulation on Foreigners
On the other hand, the Government Delegation in La Rioja has organized within the activities of the Open Week of the Administration two training days - 19 and 22 May - in which the novelties of the Regulation on Foreigners will be presented, which will enter into force on 20 May.
These training sessions, which will be given by the head of the Labor and Immigration Area of the Government Delegation in La Rioja, Carmen Guirado Gálvez, will be attended by lawyers, social workers, members of non-profit entities, workers of the autonomous community and municipalities and agents of the State Security Forces and Corps.
