The Civil Guard, within the framework of Operation "Teren", has clarified the murder of a 61-year-old man, whose lifeless body was found inside his home, located in the town of Haro, La Rioja.
Five people have been arrested in the operation, including the three alleged perpetrators of the crime, for their direct or indirect participation in the events. These are three men and two women, aged between 39 and 44 years, who are considered alleged perpetrators, in varying degrees of participation, of the crimes of murder, robbery with violence and belonging to a criminal group. All of them were part of the victim’s close circle, with whom one of the women had had a sentimental relationship for five years.
Three of the detainees had participated directly in the murder of this person, using extreme violence, when they killed the victim, who was beaten and immobilised, preventing him from being able to defend himself.
Operation "Teren"
The operation began on September 7, when the lifeless body of a 61-year-old man was found in his home in Haro (La Rioja).
As a result, the researchers carried out a technical-ocular inspection both inside and outside the property. In addition, they took statements from numerous people related to the family and social environment of the deceased.
As a result of the analysis of the evidence gathered at the scene of the crime, together with the testimonies gathered, it was possible to open the first lines of investigation, resulting in the fact that the motive for the murder had been the theft of money and narcotic substances.
Continuing with the investigations, the agents were able to focus the suspicions about a family clan from the town of Haro, whose one of the members had had a five-year relationship with the victim.
The agents were able to verify that the clan had planned and coordinated all the tasks to ensure the execution of the murder, choosing a public holiday in the town since there was a large crowds of people and thus being able to go unnoticed. It should be noted that, during the last hours before the death of the victim, they carried out surveillance and controlled all their movements, not only with the aim of stealing, but also with the intention of eliminating any evidence to be able to be identified.
After obtaining the evidence that incriminated this family clan in the murder, the officers proceeded to the arrest of the five responsible and the search of the properties.
The investigation has been carried out by agents of the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Civil Guard of La Rioja, who have counted on the collaboration of the Criminalistics Laboratory. In the exploitation phase, agents of the Cinological Service, the Rapid Action Group (G.A.R. ), all of which are coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and headed by the head of Examining Court number two in Haro.
