At the headquarters of the Local Police of Santo Domingo de la Calzada has been inaugurated this morning a Documentation Update Point (PAD) to facilitate the citizen the process of updating his digital certificate to be able to carry out certain bureaucratic procedures. The event was chaired by the Government delegate in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, the Superior Chief of Police of La Rioja, Manuel Laguna Cencerrado and the mayor of the municipality, Raúl Riaño García.
The event was also attended by the Secretary General of the Superior Police Headquarters, Juan Carlos Tejedor Guerrero; the Head of the Documentation Expedition Office, Guillermo Serrano Hernández; the Head of the Local Police of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Sergio Pérez and the First Deputy Mayor, Óscar Reina Martínez.
The government delegate wanted to highlight the importance of bringing this public service closer to all citizens. This new service will update the documents issued by the General Directorate of the National Police. In the case of DNI, they currently already have a chip, which needs a password to be able to use it in certain applications or electronic procedures. This password must be renewed every two years, and it is in this case, this password renewal that can be carried out in this position.
PAD
These Secured PADs are devices that have the functionality of being able to renew the electronic keys and certificates of the National Identity Document and have as their fundamental objective to allow the access of citizens residing in urban centers in which there are no Documentation Units to the public administration.

In October 2022, a Commission was signed between the Ministry of the Interior and the National Currency and Stamp Factory – Real Casa de la Moneda (FNMT-RCM) to carry out various activities related to the “Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU”. The specific purpose of this Order is to establish the administrative, technical and economic conditions that must govern the performance by the FNMT-RCM of the actions, supplies and benefits related to the new digital identity model for the provision of, among other machinery, Securized ID Updating Posts (Securized PADs).
The objective of these actions is to be able to continue and expand the project on a new model of Digital Identity and Identification that transforms the relationship of citizens with the Public Administration allowing access, verification and treatment of information more accessible, agile and secure
