The Ministry of Finance has transferred 173 million euros to La Rioja during the month of September, by virtue of the updating of the 2024 account deliveries regulated in Royal Decree-Law 4/2024, of 26 June.
Of that amount, there are 104 million corresponding to the updated amount of the accounts for the month of September 2024, which has been paid today, while the remaining 69 million represent the update of the accounts for January to August 2024, which were previously satisfied with the amounts of the budgetary extension and are now updated.
The payment of the deliveries on account is made monthly, through two revenues to the Autonomous Communities of Common System and Cities of Ceuta and Melilla: one at the beginning of the month and another at the end.
In the absence of the updating of Royal Decree-Law 4/2024, the amounts of the monthly instalments of 2024 calculated according to the situation of budgetary extension would have continued to be paid throughout the year.
However, thanks to the updating decree approved by the Government, the Autonomous Communities will be able to receive in 2024 the resources that correspond to the tax revenue forecasts of that year, instead of those that were taken into account in the preparation of the budget of 2023. In the case of La Rioja, the update means receiving 1.255 billion euros of account deliveries, which means 91 million euros more for this concept than last year, an increase of 7.8%.
The updating of the accounts provided for in Royal Decree-Law 4/2024, of June 26, shows the commitment of the Government to the financial sufficiency of all territories so that they can provide with excellent quality the public services of the Welfare State that are within their sphere of competence.
In total, in the year 2024, the Autonomous Communities and Cities of Ceuta and Melilla will receive more than 154,258 million euros for the payments of the Common System of Financing (updated 2024 accounts and 2022 liquidation), which represents an increase of almost 20 billion euros (15%) over the 134,484 million they received in 2023 and constitutes the largest figure in the historical series.
Record funding in 2025
This commitment remains in place next year. In fact, the Government has already informed the Autonomous Communities that in 2025 they will obtain record funding. In the case of La Rioja, next year it will receive the largest deliveries on account of its history with 1.36 billion euros, 8.3% more than in 2024. There are 105 million more for this concept. In total, including the liquidation of 2023, La Rioja will receive next year from the financing system 1.406 billion euros.
In this way, in seven years of Pedro Sánchez’s government, La Rioja will have received 41.5% more resources than in the seven years of Mariano Rajoy. That’s 2.470 billion euros more.
