According to the latest statistics published by the National Social Security Institute (INSS), the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) payroll in August reached 4,416 households in Rioja. The average amount of the benefit in this community is 499 euros per month per household and, overall, this month’s payroll in La Rioja has amounted to 2.41 million euros.
In August, there are 789 more active benefits than there were a year ago in this same period, which means an increase of 21.75%. These households are home to 2,760 beneficiaries more than those registered in August 2023 (+25.8%).
In cumulative terms since June 2020, when this benefit was launched, in the midst of a pandemic, the IMV has reached 6,004 homes and protected the 18,086 people who are part of them. Where more than 8,200 are boys, girls and adolescents, in particular 8,246, 45.6% of the total.
Since the entry into force of this policy, Social Security has allocated 87.45 million euros to pay the payroll for IMV benefits.
Underage
The IMV is a benefit aimed at preventing the risk of poverty and social exclusion of people who live alone or are integrated into a coexistence unit and lack basic economic resources. In addition, one of its main objectives is to address child poverty.
65.24% of the living units receiving this benefit in August are households with minors (2,881). Among them, there are 732 single-parent households. If we look at the profile of the beneficiaries of the IMV, 42.6% are minors: 5,734.
If the statistics are disaggregated by means of access to the benefit, it is seen that the beneficiary households of the IMV with Child Support Supplement (Complete IMV and IMV-CAPI) this month reach 2,930. This form of IMV involves an aid of 115 euros per household per month in the case of children from 0 to 3 years; 80.5 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years; and 57.5 euros per month for each child between 6 and 18 years. The average amount of the supplement this month has been 67.95 euros for each minor.
The beneficiaries of the IMV are also characterized by having a strong female profile. In August, 57.2% of headlines and 52.6% of beneficiaries are women.
On the other hand, 66.7% of the total number of holders are of Spanish nationality and their average age is 46 years.
