The delegate of the Government in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, presided this morning the meeting of the Committee on Migratory Flows to work towards the good development of agricultural campaigns in the autonomous community.
As approved in the meeting of September 2023, the celebration of this Commission has been advanced to be able to address with anticipation the issues that will arise in the different agricultural campaigns that take place in La Rioja.
The agenda has addressed several points related to the hiring of workers for this campaign and the new agricultural agreement, published last Friday by the BOR and which includes, among other things, the one related to seasonal accommodation, has been positively valued.
Likewise, representatives of the agricultural sector have conveyed their concern about the labor shortage that is being detected in the last agricultural campaigns. In this regard, it has been established to initiate channels of direct collaboration between agricultural organizations and administrations and entities to put workers and entrepreneurs in touch.
As in previous agricultural campaigns, with respect to the General Administration of the State, the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate will monitor the conditions for hiring workers, as well as the control of the regulations on social security, employment, foreigners and risk prevention.
In addition, the Labour Inspectorate, in collaboration with the State Security Forces and Corps, will work on the detection of impersonations of agrarian workers, illegal hiring and any violation of workers’ rights.
