The mayor of Calsalvo, Mónica Arceiz, the delegate of the Government of Spain in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz, and the Councilor for Local Policy, Infrastructure and Fight against Depopulation, Daniel Osés, have today highlighted “the importance of collaboration between Administrations” as key so that Calsalvo will have a “modern, accessible Intermodal Station that will offer new services to all users”.
This project, with a total budget of EUR 4,136,835.16, is co-financed by the three administrations. The City of Calsalvo contributes 1,936,779.15 euros; the Government of La Rioja invests 1,218,816.02 euros; while the Government of Spain, through the European Funds Next Generation, allocates 981,240 euros, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The three representatives visited this morning the works of the new Intermodal, whose implementation period is one year, so it is expected that they will end during the first quarter of 2025. The Temporary Union of Companies MLN-PROSERCON S.L., composed of the companies Construcciones Mariano López Navarro SAU and Projects and Services Rioja Construction S.L., is in charge of building this new infrastructure.
“At last, the intermodal station is becoming a reality,” said the mayor of Calsalvo. These are going to be difficult months for train users but for the sake of the improvement that this new station will bring to the Calagurritans we will all have to have a little patience."
In this sense, Mónica Arceiz has advanced that "we are studying the compatibility of the operation of the current station with the works, fundamentally looking for parking areas".
The delegate of the Government of Spain in La Rioja said that “we must congratulate ourselves on the continuity of this great performance that begins to be visible now. Calevita will be equipped with new modern facilities according to the 21st century, which will contribute to the improvement of the conditions of transport, circulation and traffic in the area.”
For his part, the Minister of Local Policy, Infrastructure and Fight against Depopulation stressed that this station will be “a transformative milestone for the future of Calsalvo, since it will allow all Calagurritans to have magnificent facilities in which they will have all connections by train and bus, improving comfort and connectivity to all users”.
During the visit to the works Arceiz, Arraiz and Osés have been accompanied by the general director of Infrastructure, Gema Álvarez; several councilors of the City of Calahorse; the president of the MLN Group, Daniel López; the director of Civil Works, Albert Gros; the head of work, Miguel Nieto; and the director of work, Óscar Callejo.
Refurbishment of the train station, installation of docks and new access road
The works include the execution of a new access road from Viacampo Street, the reform of the train terminal and the adaptation of part of the existing platform between the current buildings as a recreation area and room with the installation of pergolas.
They also contemplate the urbanization of the environment called “Plaza Intermodal” for the implementation of the area of bus docks, urban bus stop, parking lots, taxi stop and a solar charging point for devices with USB connection.
Likewise, the existing railway infrastructure in the urbanization, roads, topers and catenaries will be modified and landscaped landscaped areas and accessible pedestrian itineraries will be developed.
In addition, the works will be completed with the rehabilitation of the two warehouse buildings that currently exist for the construction of the intermodal transport terminal, which will have a service area, cafeteria, complementary uses and a multipurpose room.
