Transportes awards for 424,043 euros the works of rehabilitation of the bridge of the N-111 on the river Iregua, in Villanueva de Cameros

• Cleaning and cleaning work, consolidation and replacement of the factory site, replacement of the containment systems, repainting of handrails and street lamps and improvements in drainage will be carried out mainly.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded 424,043.18 euros (VAT included) for the rehabilitation works of the bridge over the river Iregua, at km 283,700 of the N-111, in the municipality of Villanueva de Cameros, in La Rioja.

It is a stone bridge, with a small concrete cladding on the side wall of the left stirrup; it was built between 1860 and 1862. It consists of two straight vanes, with curved sidewalls adapted to the route of the road, and has an approximate length between ends of pretiles of 120 m on the right side and 66 m on the left side.

The bridge serves both for the passage of vehicles over the river and for pedestrian traffic under the structure, between the banks of the river and facilitating access to the hermitage of Our Lady of the Nogales, located downstream, on the right bank of the river.

The action will consist of the improvement and rehabilitation of the structure through a series of works:

• Cleaning and healing: removal of vegetation, felling of trees, cleaning of walls and removal of accumulated dirt.
• Consolidations and replacements, mainly in the stone factory: refills with mortar where there is loss of the rejoint between the factory parts, repair of damaged parts and/or replacement thereof, relocation of displaced parts, demolition of the existing concrete cladding on the wall of accompaniment and construction of a new wall of similar characteristics to the original.
• Platform actions: repair and/or replacement of damaged parts of pretiles, reinforcement of the system of anchorage of the rail over the pretiles if necessary, repainting of the metal barrier and street lamps and installation at the entrance and exit of the bridge of a vertical signal prohibiting the passage of pedestrians.
• Improvements in the drainage system: Cleaning of clogged drains, installation of watersheds; formation of tufts and installation of rigors to lead the rainwater to the drains of the platform.

This action is included in the conservation and maintenance program of the State Road Network, in which this Ministry has invested more than 68 million euros since June 2018 in the province of La Rioja.
