The Council of Ministers today approved the distribution of the 200 million euros of the Young Rent Bonus, agreed at the Sectoral Conference on Housing and Urban Agenda on October 3, 2024.
With today’s agreement, La Rioja will receive an additional 10.2 million euros for policies to aid access to housing and emancipation of young people, raising the total received since the first call in 2022 to 3.4 million.
This aid is set at 250 euros per month, for a period of 2 years for each young person, in order to facilitate their emancipation or in any case the access to enjoy a house or room in a rental or cession of use.
The Young Rental Voucher is compatible with other aid intended for the same purpose for particularly vulnerable beneficiaries (understood as such to be those determined by the autonomous communities or cities). It is also compatible with the non-contributory benefits of Social Security and Minimum Vital Income. The sum of the “Young Rental Bonus” and the aforementioned aid will have a limit of 100% of the rental income.
On the other hand, it is also compatible with the help of the Youth Assistance Program and to contribute to the demographic challenge of the State Plan for Access to Housing 2022-2025. However, in this case the sum of the “Young Rental Bonus” and this aid will have a limit of 75% of the rental income.
As for the distribution by autonomous communities of the 200 million budgeted by the Executive, Andalusia receives 34.2 M€; Aragon, 7.6 M€; Asturias, 6.6 M€; Balearic Islands, 4.8 M€; Canary Islands, 10.6 M€; Cantabria, 3.8 M€; Castilla y León, 10.8 M€; Castilla-La Mancha, 8 M€; Catalonia, 29 M€; Extremadura, 6 M€; Galicia, 11.4 M€; La Rioja, 3.4 M€; Madrid, 31.8€. Valenciana, 22,8 M€; Ceuta, 200.000 €; and, Melilla, 200.000 €.
The next step is to reconvene the Sectoral Conference to ratify that distribution. Once the administrative procedures have been ratified and completed, the Executive will proceed to send the resolutions with the respective amounts to the autonomous communities so that they accept and can make the transfer for their respective calls.
Since 2018, La Rioja has already received 93 million euros from the Government of Spain for public housing policies. With them, the construction of 185 homes and the rehabilitation of 949 have been mobilized.
