The delegate of the Government of Spain in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, and the mayor of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Raúl Riaño, presided this morning the meeting of the Local Security Board held in the plenary hall of the town. The data analyzed in the course of the meeting certify that this town of La Rioja Alta, with 6,242 inhabitants, has some indicators that consolidate its citizen security.
In particular, the delegate has detailed that the crime rate – number of known criminal offenses per thousand inhabitants – has been set from January to August 2023 at 13.45, below that obtained in this same period during 2022 -19.44.
Until August of this year, the number of known criminal offenses rises to 84 and the clarification rate is 46.42. In 2022, the total number of criminal offences was 121 and the clarification rate at the end of last year was 42.14.
Likewise, the detention rate – number of detainees for every thousand known criminal offenses – was 607 in the first eight months of the year, well above that obtained in 2022 with 553.7.
For all these reasons, the delegate of the Government has assured that “Santo Domingo de la Calzada is a safe city, where the effective police work carried out by the Civil Guard and local police has an impact on the citizen security of the municipality”.
