Within the calendar of campaigns of the General Directorate of Traffic in La Rioja for 2023 it is planned next week, from 8 to 14 May, to intensify surveillance on the N-111 in order to improve road safety on this road and reduce the number of accidents with victims and the number of victims.
During the year 2021, a considerable increase was observed in the accident recorded on the N-111 road as it passed through La Rioja with 25 accidents with victims, with 38 victims, one of them fatal.
In previous years, another 16 accidents were recorded in 2017, 7 in 2018, 17 in 2019 and 16 in 2020.
Despite having registered a decrease in 2022 compared to 2021, with 17 accidents with victims and 22 victims, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters considers it important to insist on the intensification of controls on this route.
For this reason, the campaign to intensify surveillance will address various important aspects of control, such as speed, distractions, alcohol and drugs and anti-regulatory manoeuvres, among others.
To this end, it is planned to intensify the control of the N-111 by the traffic agents of the Civil Guard and with the surveillance of the Pegasus helicopter.
CRMF Collaboration
As in previous campaigns, the DGT in La Rioja will collaborate with the CRMF of Lardero. In particular, agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard will carry out alcohol checks accompanied by students from this center.
CRMF students will take the opportunity to interact with drivers and provide them with an informative brochure on driving distractions: “If you lose attention, you lose control.”
In addition, these students will also accompany the Local Police of Lardero in the control of the old N-111 crossing of the town.
Finally, other complementary activities have been planned in collaboration with the CRMF of Lardero: information session of the association Aesleme, talk about doubts to obtain the driving license and a visit to the children's traffic park of Logroño.
