According to the data provided by the State Security Forces, in 2022 750 complaints of gender violence were filed in La Rioja, 380 are criminal acts reported in the Civil Guard and 370 in the Superior Police Headquarters. These data include new complaints for repetition of episodes and others for violation of the measures. With respect to the previous year, 113 more complaints have been registered, which means an increase of 17.7% in 2022.
The Government delegate, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, together with the head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, Flor Moral Pérez, presented this morning the statistical data corresponding to the balance of male violence in La Rioja during 2022.
As of December 31, 2022, the number of cases with police follow-up with active measures in force was 657, 282 in Logroño and 375 in the rest of the autonomous community. Of the total, 15 women were in high risk and 113 situations were considered of special relevance.
Of these active cases, 335 were women with minors in charge, of whom 70 were in a vulnerable situation and another 9 at risk.
During 2022, seven complaints were for serious injuries and two cases required hospitalization of the victim abused for the injuries suffered, in 2021 it was one.
In terms of protection orders, 48.1% of victims of gender-based violence requested them in 2022, a high increase compared to 2021, which was 27.8%.
In addition, last year the percentage of arrests of the perpetrator was maintained, 84.3% of the cases reported. In 79.9% of cases, a rapid trial was held, 4.7 points more than in 2021. Another interesting fact is that there were 195 crashes, 157 in 2021.
Age victim and aggressor
The highest percentage of complaints, 30.1%, relate to female victims aged between 31 and 40 (32% in 2021), followed by the age range between 41 and 50 years, with 26.7% (last year was the third with 21.8%). Women between the ages of 21 and 30 account for 25.7% of complaints, 29% in 2021.
It is important to note that 94.7% of complaints in 2022 concern women between the ages of 18 and 60 (95.7% in 2021). Only 24 complaints were filed by victims over 61 years of age (3.2%), in 2021 there were 11 (1.7%).
As for the aggressors, 52 complaints were filed against young men aged 20 or younger (6.9%), double the previous year’s figure of 26 (4.1%): in 2022, five complaints against children under 18 years old, one in 2021.
The range of aggressors between 31 and 40 years is the age range with the highest percentage, reaching 30.9% (32.1% in 2021). The age groups between 21 and 30 years and 41 and 50 years had the same percentage of aggressors in 2022, 23.9%, compared to 25.4% and 25.7%, respectively, in 2021. The corresponding number of complaints about men over 61 years of age is 31 (21 in 2021).
94.9% of the reported authors are between 18 and 60 years of age (96.4% in 2021).
Nationality
By nationality, 60.4% of the victims who reported (453) in 2022 were Spanish women and 38.9% (292) foreign women - 0.7% do not have a nationality.
As for the aggressors, 57.7% of the complaints (433) were filed against Spanish men and 41.5% (311) against foreigners -0.8% do not have a nationality.
Relationship type
Regarding the relationship between the victim and the respondent, there have been no notable changes in this aspect with respect to 2021. The data collected in the gender violence balance for 2022 show that it is more frequent in relationships that are or have been affective, 72.4%.
Type of complaint
In 2022, 64.5% of women reported physical abuse, 58.9% in 2021: for the first time 56.2% (64.3% in 2021) and regular abuse 43.8% (35.7% in 2021).
The increase of 5.6 percentage points compared to 2021 in physical abuse is mainly due to the increase in habitual abuse.
In relation to crimes against freedom, 34.3% in 2022 and 19.3% in 2021, more complaints continue to be filed for threats than for coercion, 58.4% and 41.6%, respectively, but with a trend of increase of the last -15 percentage points more than in 2021.
It should be noted that physical abuse is usually accompanied by crimes against freedom and psychological abuse (30.1%), which means mixed or combined abuse. (21.5% in 2021, represents a 40% increase in psychological abuse).
Type of injuries
During 2022, seven complaints were for serious injuries and two cases with injuries that required the hospitalization of the abused victim, in 2021 it was one.
Likewise, 48.4% (58.9% in 2021) of women reported physical abuse without physical injuries, so there is a drop of just over ten percentage points in this type compared to 2021. 35.2% (31.4% in 2021) reported mistreatment with minor injuries. There are 15.5% of cases that do not show the type of injury.
