The delegate and the mayor of Calvià chair the Local Security Board to plan the start of the high tourist season
The Ajuntament de Calvià hosted this Wednesday the Local Security Board, at the beginning of the high tourist season. The session, convened by the Consistory, and co-chaired by the government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual, addressed various aspects related to security in the municipality, as well as the calendar of important events that will take place in the coming months.
The call was attended by the deputy mayor of Security, Esperanza Catalá; the councillor of Public Administrations of the Balearic Government, Antonia María Estarellas; the head of the Local Police of Calvià, Esther Ribas; the secretary of the Ajuntament of Calvià, Juan Castañer; and the chief commander of the Civil Guard in Calvià, Javier López Alegre.
At the meeting, the government delegate presented the summer reinforcement of the Civil Guard in the municipal term, which again contemplates an increase in the number of troops, following the trend of previous years. This has contributed substantially to making Calvià a safe municipality, a circumstance in which all the institutions present at today’s meeting coincide.
In addition, and in relation to the agreement on the Service of Attention to Foreign Tourists (SATE), which manages the Civil Guard in units ceded by the Ajuntament of Calvià, the possibility has been discussed that, for next year, its opening will be advanced to 15 May, instead of 1 June, and it has been agreed to look for a new location for the SATE of Peguera.
This meeting has also been useful to agree on the adaptation of the Viogén operational protocol to the new instructions of the Secretary of State for Security.
