The Government Delegation welcomes the new Port of Palma management project presented by the APB
The Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands expresses its satisfaction for the new project of management of the port of Palma, after this Wednesday the Board of Directors of the Balearic Port Authority (APB) presented the new strategic lines after the withdrawal of the previous proposal, which was rejected by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, at the proposal of the Government Delegation.
The new planning meets the main requirements of the Government, since it has a prior process of consultation with the affected sectors and entities and eliminates any route that could contribute to intensifying tourism activity, to the detriment of the needs of the other sectors to which a public infrastructure of this nature must respond.
In this way, the possibility of new leisure, trade or catering areas or areas reserved for boats of great length is eliminated and, instead, the cultural, scientific and training activity in this space of integration of the port in the city will be promoted.
The Government will continue to be vigilant to ensure that the management of the uses of the port of Palma is a participatory and sustainable process.
