The DGT strengthens its staff in the islands with three new positions of official staff for the conduct of examinations
The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has strengthened the staff of examiners in the Balearic Islands with the incorporation of 3 new people, who will occupy their place in the coming days, after the publication of the corresponding resolution of appointments in the BOE, last week. These new positions of career civil servant correspond to the Public Employment Offer of 2022 for the General Administrative Body of the General Administration of the State, by which a total of 54 examiners have been provided to 25 traffic headquarters throughout the country, including that of Balears.
In addition, the Provincial Headquarters has an interim examiner, with an itinerant place in Mallorca, to deal with the increases in demand that occur seasonally. This reinforcement has been complemented in recent months with the realization of practical tests of circulation in the afternoon, in addition to those already carried out in the mornings.
The DGT is conducting an average of 2,300 tests per month, which puts it in line with the last two years. Since the beginning of 2024 and until the month of May, 5,622 theoretical exams and 5,220 circulation tests have been carried out, in addition to 990 skill tests. For the first half of June, 742 circulations (of 30 minutes each) have been offered to carry out the tests in Mallorca and 171 circulations in Ibiza, adding 204 more reserves in Mallorca and 3 in Ibiza, which are expected to be covered with the incorporation of the three new examiners. As for Menorca, it offers a number of circulations that optimally meets the demand.
Every month, two to three cycles are carried out in Mallorca and Ibiza, with a minimum offer of between 700 and 900 circulation tests each. Currently, the capacity offered by the DGT is very similar to the real demand, which corresponds to the students who, according to the criteria of their instructors, would be prepared to examine themselves, and who are also interested in doing so. It should be noted that, once the theoretical part has been approved, the applicant has up to two years to carry out the necessary preparation to complete the practical test.
