Almost 18,000 companies, entities and citizens of Balears already have 733 million euros of the Recovery Plan
A total of 17,746 companies, entities and citizens of Balears have already received 732.21 million euros until the end of February, through the different tenders and subsidies of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) carried out by the General Administration of the State (AGE), the Autonomous Community and the Local Entities. Of this total, 355 M€ correspond to calls made directly by the AGE; 337 M€ have been resolved by the CAIB with the resources allocated at the Sectorial Conferences, and another 40 M€ are tenders made by the City Councils.
Of the 1,050 M€ allocated by the Government to the Autonomous Community, calls have been made for 722 M€, of which 47% have already been resolved. For their part, the municipal corporations have called tenders for a total of 82 M€, of which they have resolved 40 M€.
More than half of the beneficiaries are microenterprises and SMEs and 5% individuals; these two groups receive 6 out of 10 euros of PRTR aid in the archipelago. Another 26% goes to entities; 10%, to UTEs and the remaining 5%, to large companies. On the other hand, of the total funds that have already been resolved in the islands, almost 40% are for sustainable infrastructure projects and energy transition; 18% for Urban and Rural Agenda and another 17% is invested in the modernization of the industrial fabric of the archipelago. In addition, 7 out of 10 euros are for initiatives related to Science or Health, while the areas of Economics of Care and Employment, Administration of the 21st century and Education take 6% of the total investment of the Recovery Plan and, finally, 1% is for projects related to Culture or Sport.
These and other data can be consulted in the ELISA tool, accessible through the Recovery Plan website and launched by the Government of Spain. This software makes it possible to monitor the calls for tenders and grants, as well as their resolution, both of the funds managed directly by the State, and of those transferred to the Autonomous Communities through the Sectoral Conferences and those executed by the local corporations.
According to the government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, this initiative is “another new sign of the commitment of the State Executive to the archipelago and a firm commitment to transparency”. Rodríguez Badal reiterated that the aid contemplated in the plan is the instrument “to achieve among all the administrations that the European funds necessary to transform the economy of the islands and strengthen our social cohesion”.
Flagship projects
Among the emblematic projects developed in Balears through the Recovery Plan are the expansion of the Palma Metro, with 21 M€, the water regeneration projects for irrigation, with almost 7.5 M€ or the creation of photovoltaic parks, for a global amount of more than 18 M€. In addition, in the infrastructure chapter, 3.9 M€ are allocated for the improvement of the sustainability and energy efficiency of the ports, of which the 2.5 M€ for the port of Palma stands out.
