The Delegation coordinates the security operation in view of the mobilizations planned for the coming days
The government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, presided on Wednesday over the Security Board held to coordinate the planned operation in the face of the mobilizations convened by the agricultural organizations in Mallorca and Menorca, especially those that have been communicated for next February 19. The leaders of the State Security Forces and Corps, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) and the Local Police of Palma participated in the meeting.
Due to the estimates of participation by the organizers - which include tractors, as well as people displaced by foot - during the demonstration on Monday 19, traffic and mobility in Palma will be expected to be affected, especially in the areas of the route, between 8.30 and 17.30 hours, approximately. For this reason, it is recommended to avoid travel by private vehicle as much as possible and to use public transport instead.
According to the route communicated by the participants, the mobilization will start from Avenida de México and end at Plaza Constitución. The route will continue to Plaza España through Manuel Azaña and Manacor streets, and Alexandre Rosselló Avenue, to continue along the avenues until Passeig Mallorca, Jaume III and Es Born. The organizers of the demonstration have requested security measures and traffic control throughout the route, as well as special surveillance from ten o’clock in the morning at the accesses by the roundabout of Can Blau.
On the other hand, the State Security Forces and Corps will activate the usual operation on previous occasions to escort the advance of the march of vehicles from Part Forana and their access to Palma.
In Menorca, the demonstrators will depart from Ciutadella to Maó, where from 12 noon it is planned that the rally will begin in the Plaza Miranda. The itinerary will be completed in the next few hours.
