The new government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has taken office, in an event held this Friday afternoon in the auditorium of the Delegation of Economy and Finance in Palma, and attended by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu.
Rodríguez Badal is committed to “being the voice” of the Executive in the Balears and to “working for the common good and in the representation and defense of the legitimate interests of the citizens of the islands”. “We are the government of dialogue and this is the way to solve all problems,” said the delegate in his speech, who assured that, for him, politics is “a noble activity that requires effort, dedication, honesty and honesty to improve the lives of those around us, and especially those who may need it most.” In this sense, he has guaranteed that he will work “so that the keywords of 2024 are ‘agreement’ or ‘coexistence’”.
The new government delegate has resorted to a quote from the Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela to claim his respect for the language of Balears and has delivered a part of his speech in Catalan. He also stressed the importance of preserving the territory and making possible a sustainable tourist activity that allows “social cohesion, in the form of quality employment, economic activity and equitable redistribution of wealth.
Alfonso Rodríguez highlighted the work carried out by the Civil Guard and the National Police in maintaining security in the archipelago, in “constant and close” collaboration with the Government Delegation, and thanked the staff of the General Administration of the State in the islands for their daily work.
For his part, the Minister of Industry and Tourism has guaranteed that the Government of Spain will maintain coordination with the different territories through the delegations of the Government, for a closer management of the needs of the citizens. Jordi Hereu has referred to the good tourism figures recorded in the Balears, and has encouraged him to continue working to maintain and improve them in the future and at the same time to bet on economic diversification to promote other sectors, such as the industrial sector.
The event was attended by the president of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, the president of the Govern les Illes Balears, Marga Prohens, as well as representatives of the State Security Forces and Bodies, the Army and other institutions.
