Balears receives almost 15 M€ for energy efficiency, social sustainability and digitalisation in the tourism sector
The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has allocated to Balears a total of 14,704,731.84 million euros in aid for projects of digital skills, social sustainability and energy efficiency in the field of tourism. These grants are given within the framework of the Sectoral Conference on Tourism.
The Digital Skills Plan for the tourism sector will receive a total of 4,852,336.65 euros. This aims to improve competitiveness among companies engaged in the sector with a series of trainings lasting 150 hours. The main recipients of these funds are SMEs, tourism workers. It is estimated that at the end of the second quarter of 2026, almost twenty thousand people have made use of these courses throughout the national territory.
In addition, 902.175,19 € will be aimed at reducing social gaps deriving from the tourism sector, within the Social Sustainability Plans of Tourism. Such as job inequality or the improvement of working conditions. These measures are aimed at increasing productivity in the areas and in the receiving population. Some of the proposals are: Observatories of social sustainability in hotels, incorporating measures for the labor growth of workers, as well as measures of quality or labor conciliation.
To complete the amount, 8,950,000,22 € will be distributed in the Financing Line for Tourism Projects of Energy Efficiency and Circular Economy of Tourism Companies. These provisions are committed to energy efficiency, and include objectives such as obtaining zero-kilometre resources, the implementation of energy efficiency sensors or measures for the recycling of waste from the tourism sector.
