La Oficina de la Dona del Consell de Eivissa recibe el reconocimiento Meninas 2023 de la Dirección Insular de la AGE

The entity, created in September 1997, was a pioneer in the fight against gender violence and one of the first to implement specialized care programs, which over the years have been consolidated as their own services.

The Donut Office of the Ibiza Island Council received on Monday the recognition Meninas 2023 from the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration (AGE) in Ibiza and Formentera, for its work against gender violence. The island director of the AGE in Ibiza and Formentera, Enrique Sánchez Navarrete, has presented the distinction, which is awarded on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, held last Saturday, November 25.

These awards, of an honorific nature – and which in Ibiza and Formentera have been given since 2020 – are granted to individuals, groups, entities and institutions that are outstanding in the prevention and fight against male violence and in the care, assistance, protection and recovery of victims.

Created in 1997, the Donut Office of the Ibiza Island Council was one of the first in the whole country and helped establish the foundations of the Law against Gender Violence, which was approved in 2004 in Spain. This office has been a forerunner in the development of care programs in the areas of supervised visits and exchanges, family mediation and care and treatment of aggressors, which have subsequently become independent services, which has allowed the office to focus on the comprehensive treatment of victims of male violence and their children, with almost 7,500 women attended since its inception. She was also a pioneer in the development of protocols and commissions for the coordination and referral of cases, which are tools for working in a more efficient and coordinated network.

Fundación Asombra

The forging sculptures of the Meninas, which are given to the people and entities honored during the 25N, have been elaborated in workshops of the Fundación Asombra in the penitentiaries.

The event was held at the Equality Centre of the City of Ibiza. The statuette has been collected by the current director of the Donut Office of the Ibiza Island Council, Tonyi Ferrer, and her two predecessors, Sara Santacruz i Olga Guerra.
