During the months of July and October, two bookshops in Illes Balears will host meetings between writers as part of the ‘Elective Affinities’ programme, organised by the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading of the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
The initiative, launched in 2020 through the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading, brings together two authors who write in different languages of Spain in independent bookstores to talk about their similarities, divergences or connections.
The libraries participate in Balears:
- Quart Creixent. Séchu Sende and Carlota Gurt. 13 July
- Finis Africae Publishing House. Miriam Reyes and Chus Pato. October 13th.
The objectives are, on the one hand, to promote the activity in independent libraries and, on the other, to support literary creation in all the official languages of Spain, valuing the linguistic plurality of our country, promoting dialogue between the different languages and contributing to the dissemination of literature from different territories.
Libraries from 14 autonomous communities have presented their proposals, which they host from June 15 to October 15. It is the bookstores that, depending on their interested public, their fund and their line of programming activities, have proposed the participation of creators and creators.
