The Government consolidates the transformation of Vocational Training with a new investment of 1,307 million euros
The Council of Ministers today approved a new investment that consolidates the transformation of Vocational Training carried out by the Government throughout the legislature. These are five agreements by which the autonomous communities will receive 1,307 million euros for different actions in the field of FP.
A first item of 299 million euros is aimed at the development of measures for modernization and growth of the educational system of Vocational Training. On the one hand, a territorial cooperation programme for the promotion of quality actions with 25.7 million has been approved. This includes participation in the network of centres of excellence, mobility of teachers and students inside and outside Spain and dissemination actions.
On the other hand, an investment of 273.3 million has been approved for actions of the Modernization Plan of the FP such as the accreditation of professional skills of more than 540,000 people, the creation of about 1,500 bilingual groups (equivalent to 44,670 new places) and the implementation of 304 applied technology classrooms and 444 entrepreneurship classrooms.
The training of workers is another of the areas of action of these agreements with an investment of 867.28 million euros for actions of FP for employment that will reach more than 217,000 employed and unemployed workers and with another item of 111.5 million euros for actions of qualification and requalification (reskilling and upskilling) that will reach 203,000 people.
Finally, the Council of Ministers has approved the distribution to the autonomous communities of 29.3 million euros for the operation of the 1,047 digital training centers that already exist and for the creation of 314 more.
These centres provide basic digital training to people who are vulnerable due to age, level of training, place of residence or belonging to groups at risk of exclusion. “An action of great social value, which will especially benefit women”, as explained by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría.
With this new investment, the Government has allocated between 2020 and 2023 to the transformation of Vocational Training 6,041 million euros, of which 2,185 come from Next Generation funds.
“The new FP is already a reality in progress, with great potential for growth due to the synergies that are being generated with the productive fabric,” said Pilar Alegría. “A safe way to reduce youth unemployment, to improve the competitiveness of companies and to reactivate the social elevator through education,” he concluded.
