Olimpia López, deputy delegate of the Government, participated this morning in the information day of the National Police, framed in the Greater Security Plan, held at the Socio-Community Center of La Milagrosa. The talk was given by Rubén Darío Veiga and Iván García, formators of the National Police.
The Greater Security Plan, promoted by the Secretary of State for Security, seeks to provide older people with tools to prevent crime and identify potential risk situations. Olimpia López said that “the elderly must know the threats to which they may be exposed, especially in the digital sphere, and know how to act in the face of a possible scam or attempt at deception.”
Throughout 2026, the National Police held seven talks and informative activities within this program in Lugo, three of them focused on security councils, two on internet security and another two on preventive matters. These actions involved 250 people, 30 more than in 2025.
In addition, the Citizen Participation Delegation gave eight other preventive talks within the Citizens Groups program, mainly in neighborhood associations.
The subdelegate noted that “security is also built with information and proximity. These talks allow us to resolve doubts, identify possible frauds and offer practical advice for everyday life.” The activities are part of the preventive work of the National Police to bring security information closer to citizens and facilitate the identification of possible crimes, especially those that may affect older people.
