The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted today in Boiro the impulse of the Government of Spain to the renovation of public infrastructures in Galicia with an investment of more than 50 million euros of the Program of Impulse to the Rehabilitation of Local Public Buildings (PIREP).
Pedro Blanco supervised on Tuesday the beginning of the improvement works of the Casa de la Cultura, benefited by the PIREP, together with the mayor, José Ramón Romero; the deputy mayor, Luis Ruiz, and the councilor for Culture, María Outeiral. Pedro Blanco stressed that the impetus of the Government of Spain reaches all the villages of Galicia and do it with criteria, “since we invest where the Galician municipalities need it, responding to the problems of their neighborhood.”
Following this line, Pedro Blanco highlighted the success of the PIREP in the community, where he funds 49 projects “evidencing our municipal commitment”. This spirit of impulse to the municipalities is evident in Boiro, where they receive more than a million in euros from the PIREP for the modernization of their House of Culture.
The improvement, which is already underway, aims to provide the building with a new auditorium, as well as a renovated library that has a study room, a computer room, a library and an archive capable of responding to the needs of the neighborhood. The main part of the project will be the expansion of the facilities, going from 1,792 to 2,927 square meters. In the new House of Culture will coexist an administrative part, in which different work spaces and attention to the public will be distributed, a meeting room and rooms intended for storage and archiving.
In the design of this project all the details were taken care of, so that the new building will be energy efficient thanks to the improvement of thermal insulation and the installation of photovoltaic panels. In addition, it will be fully accessible by creating a route from the Avenida de la Constitución with shaded areas, reducing the slopes.
Pedro Blanco also highlighted the impact of the total of more than 3.6 million euros of the Government of Spain with which the City of Boiro benefits, where it makes investments as relevant to its neighborhood as the modernization of the Open Commercial Center, the promotion of digitalization with the UNICO Plan and its energy efficiency through the IDAE, the tourist dynamization with the Sustainability Plan of Barbanza or the fight against male violence through the State Pact.
Of course, the government also benefits Boiro with the local PIREP, which moves to the Casa de la Cultura.
Promotion of the PIREP to the Barbanza region
Expanding the focus to the Barbanza region, the Government invests more than six million euros through the PIREP in the municipalities of Rianxo (978,709.98 €), Porto do Son (241,537.50 €), Ribeira (3,375,427.40 €) and Boiro.
In this town hall the transformation of its House of Culture is done with 1,562,468.62 € derived from these funds for its integral improvement.
In the total of the Galician municipalities, the PIREP has mobilized for a total of 43 municipalities a figure greater than 50 million euros, 21.5 destined to 14 municipalities in the province of A Coruña. This program has an autonomous division, through which the Government transferred more than 27 million euros to the Xunta for improvement works in public buildings of its ownership.
