The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, reaffirmed today in Toén the commitment of the Government of Spain to renewable energies because "the ecological transition is a duty that benefits the whole society". He did so during a visit to one of the photovoltaic installations of the energy community San Mamede de Puga, whose self-consumption project is supported by the Ministry for Ecological Transformation and Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE).
In the meeting with the neighbors and the community of neighboring mountains of A Fenteira, in which was also the mayor of Toén, Ricardo González, the subdelegate congratulated them for promoting this very sustainable project. "Initiatives like this show that the ecological transition is not only possible, but is already underway and drives local development and the fight against depopulation, while protecting the environment," he said.
In his speech, Eladio Santos recalled that the project Promotion of Smart Self-Consumption received €97,139.77 at the end of 2023, as part of the incentive program for unique pilot projects of energy communities launched by the IDAE. "This project, which was joined by 47 partners, represents savings for families, energy autonomy and, above all, a commitment to a cleaner and sustainable future," he said. In addition, in this line of grants, the Government allocated more than 900,000 euros to pilot initiatives of this type in the province of Ourense.
The Toén project consists of the commitment to a totally renewable energy generation and zero kilometer, with the use of sunlight. For this, they installed a photovoltaic power of 119,185 kWp, in three locations: the social venue of Celeirón (7,26 kWp); the social venue of A Eirexa (12,10 kWp), and the football field of Puga (99,825 kWp). They also included a system for the management of demand with an installation of measurement, regulation and control equipment, and the development of software that allows to analyze the data in real time (the demand for consumption and the price of energy) to execute the most favorable action, in order to consume the least energy of the network.
Finally, the subdelegate appealed to the other institutions to become involved in the ecological transition. "The Government of Spain will continue to work so that more and more municipalities can join this path, because betting on renewables is betting on the economy, on the territory and on the well-being of future generations," he added.
