The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, presided today the Local Security Board of Cervo together with the mayor, Dolores García, to supervise the device on the occasion of the ‘Fiesta de La Maruxaina’.
The event, declared ‘Galician Tourist Interest Festival’, is held in San Cibrao on the second Saturday of August, the 9th. The playful and cultural event includes the legend about the popular judgment of the Maruxaina, which gives it its name.
Cervo also prepares the patron saint’s festivities in the honor of San Roque, which will have their big day on Friday, August 15. Also, the 'Festa do Ovo Frito' and the 'Queimada Popular de Cervo' are celebrated.
Isabel Rodríguez noted the importance of maintaining and promoting traditions to reinforce the sense of identity, and enhance tourist attractiveness and economic activity.
In addition, the Government’s deputy delegate in Lugo highlighted the professionalism shown by the Civil Guard agents and valued the support offered by the Local Police.
