The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, made this morning an appeal for responsibility and prudence in driving coinciding with the beginning of the Special Traffic Operation “Santiago – 2025”, which will take place from 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, 24, at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, coinciding with the festivity of the Apostle Santiago and the beginning of a summer weekend of high mobility.
Second highlighted Rivas, only in Galicia is the circulation of more than 555,000 vehicles expected, being A Coruña a province with a high volume of travel, with an estimate of 191,000. The main destinations will be the coastal areas and second residences, with a greater concentration of traffic in the afternoons of Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
To cover this device, the Directorate General of Traffic will have the maximum availability of its human and technical means. The operation includes the presence of the Civil Guard Traffic Group, personnel from the Traffic Management Centers, helicopters with cameras, surveillance drones and variable messaging panels.
“I appeal to the citizens to plan their trips, avoid the most intense hours and, above all, respect traffic rules, because the common objective is to arrive and return safely,” asked the deputy delegate.
“We are in one of the periods of the year with the greatest mobility on Galician roads, and that forces them to take extreme precautions. Road safety depends not only on the means deployed, but also on individual responsibility. Our goal is clear: that all the people who leave will return safely to their homes,” he concluded.
