The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, received this morning representatives of the Association of Neighbors of Santa Ana de O Pino de Ourense to listen to their demands regarding citizen security and conveyed a message of tranquility. The meeting was held in the Government Subdelegation and the chief provincial commissioner of the National Police, Juan Cástor Vázquez, and the chief inspector of the Citizen Security Brigade, Pablo Álvarez, also participated.
At the meeting, the representative of the neighborhood thanked the subdelegate of the Government for his prompt response to his writing and for his speed in attending to them in his office. Then, the association’s spokesmen conveyed their concern about a ship allegedly illegally occupied in the area, where they perceive a sense of insecurity.
With respect, Eladio Santos explained that the National Police maintains special surveillance operations in certain neighborhoods of the city, among them, that of O Pino, and in recent times he did not appreciate an increase in criminal activity in the area, so he praised "the intense work" that agents do to maintain security in the streets of the city. In addition, the subdelegate showed his willingness to meet their demands because "the Administration of the Government of Spain is open" and assured that the situation is controlled and will be resolved.
Finally, Eladio Santos invited other Administrations to receive the neighbors and get involved in the matter, since in the neighborhood there are homeless people who must be looked after by those who have the competencies in Social Services. "The Subdelegation of the Government and the National Police are doing their work with resources and with truthful information, but the involvement of other services is necessary to tackle the problems," he said. It also invites neighbors to call the National Police through 091 whenever they become aware of an alleged criminal act.
