The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated today in the act of implementation of the electronic recipe concerted in the province, which took place in the pharmacy Paula Briones of the city of Herculina. She was accompanied by Natalia Álvarez, director of MUFACE in A Coruña; Sara Catrain, president of the Official College of Pharmacists of A Coruña; and Luciano Vidán, president of the Official College of Physicians of A Coruña.
During the event, Rivas stressed that with this implementation “we take a step forward in the modernization of the health system” by allowing some 23,000 mutualists from Adeslas and Asisa of the province of A Coruña to access their treatments without the need to use the paper heel. From now on, doctors will prescribe the prescriptions electronically and patients will only have to go to the pharmacy to collect the medication.
This system, which was launched for the first time in Cantabria in 2020, is already operational in communities such as Asturias, Canarias, Extremadura, La Rioja, Murcia, Navarra, Illes Balears, Castilla-La Mancha and in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
The electronic prescription guarantees a more rational and safe use of medicines, facilitates the monitoring of treatments by doctors, avoids unnecessary displacements and can be used in any of the communities where it is already implanted.
The subdelegate expressly thanked the Official College of Physicians and the Official College of Pharmacists of A Coruña for their commitment to the implementation of the system. “Doctors are a key element: they prescribe, value and accompany. Pharmacies, for their part, bring close, safe and professional care,” he concluded.
He also highlighted the work done by MUFACE in the digitalization process that directly benefits people. “This initiative is an example of what can be achieved when administrations, health professionals and official schools collaborate thinking about the welfare of citizens,” he concluded.
