The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, stressed this morning the commitment of the Government of Spain with Vilar de Barrio, with investments in infrastructure and demographic challenge, among others. He did so during an institutional visit to the City Council, where he met with the mayor, Manuel Conde.
Among the issues addressed, Santos welcomed the recent signing of the contract for the project of phase 2 of renovation of the sanitation and purification infrastructures of the Arnuide core, awarded for 313,397 euros. It consists in the definition of the construction works of two small treatment plants. The total amount of the project, with all phases, amounts to more than 900,000 euros. "This economic effort is an example of the defense of the environment, because the purification of water is fundamental to the health of people and nature," said the deputy delegate.
On the other hand, he recalled that Vilar de Barrio is one of the municipalities subsidized by the call for grants from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge for territorial transformation. The initiative presented obtained 180,000 euros and is called 'Vilar de Barrio, tourist and economic innovation'. Among the proposals, the City Council will hire two technicians and make a navigable area on the river with 14 canoes.
With respect, the subdelegate explained that the objective of this aid, managed by the General Secretariat for the Demographic Challenge, and aimed at municipalities in rural areas, is to promote the implementation of innovative projects that contribute to achieving territorial equity. "The government shows, once again, its commitment to the fight against depopulation, giving impetus to sustainability, digitalization and the retention of talent," he said.
Classroom Mentor
They also addressed the agreement between the City of Vilar de Barrio and the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports for the development of the open training program called Aula Mentor. Eladio Santos indicated that this initiative is aimed at adults in order to improve personal and professional skills. "This program is a great opportunity for the inhabitants of a province like ours with a dispersed population, as it allows access to the training of people living in isolated areas so that they can grow in the labor field," he said.
Co-responsible plan
In addition, the City Council obtained 14,784 euros from the Co-responsible Plan of the Ministry of Equality to develop the initiative Vilar de Barrio Concilia 2025, with the objective of facilitating the labor and family conciliation of 80 families. "Thanks to this program of the Government of Spain, professional care and equality between men and women are promoted, while boys and girls enjoy different activities," said the deputy delegate, during a visit to the summer camp.
Eladio Santos cited other government subsidies granted to Vilar de Barrio such as energy efficiency, with which the City Hall building is being remodeled, for 140,000 euros. In addition, he acknowledged the efforts of the mayor of Vilar de Barrio, who "is awaiting aid and takes advantage of it to improve people's lives, with transformative projects."
