The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, condemned the last six crimes of gender violence in Spain recognized by the Ministry of Equality.
During the event, in which a minute of silence was kept in memory of the victims, Eladio Santos urged to reinforce the fight against male violence. "We cannot allow this scourge that left a beginning of the black summer to continue," the deputy delegate said. He also recalled that the number 016 is free and is available 24 hours a day.
The last six confirmed crimes were in the provinces of Valencia, two in Asturias, Guadalajara, Las Palmas and Almería. Following the murder on Wednesday of 86-year-old Dolores of Asturias, the number of victims of gender-based violence this year in Spain stands at 22, and at 1,316 since 2003.
In addition, he also appealed to society to accompany women who are currently suffering from male aggression. "The problem includes the permanent physical and psychological violence that many women suffer continuously and especially at this time of year," said the deputy delegate.
