The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presented this morning at the Casa del Mapa the new edition of the Young Cultural Voucher 2025, an initiative of the Government of Spain that seeks to guarantee access to the culture of youth, while promoting the cultural sector and proximity trade.
“This bonus is a tool that contributes to equal opportunities and the strengthening of our cultural identity as a country. We are committed to youth and culture as pillars of a fairer and more cohesive society,” said the deputy delegate.
This year, almost 10,000 young people from the province of A Coruña, born in 2007, will be able to benefit from the program, who will have 400 euros to spend on different cultural goods and activities, such as cinema, theater, music, books, video games or digital content, among others. Throughout Spain, 534,526 boys and girls will be able to benefit.
The Young Cultural Bonus is regulated by Royal Decree approved by the Council of Ministers on March 21, 2023, at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, and has a State budget of 170 million euros in the General Budgets of the State extended. The indefinite programme was consolidated as one of the most ambitious cultural measures in recent years. Since its launch in 2022, there were already 277,607 beneficiaries that year; 319,237 in 2023 and 334,435 in 2024.
A commitment to youth and local trade
In the province of A Coruña, more than 100 establishments and cultural entities are attached to the program, from bookstores and record stores to theater rooms, cinemas, digital platforms or festivals. Their participation allows not only to facilitate the use of the bond, but also to boost the activity of local cultural trade, one of the key sectors for the development of cities. Throughout Spain, there are a total of 3,700 affiliated establishments.
“For young people it is a unique opportunity to know and enjoy culture in a freer way, without economic barriers, and thus be an active part of the cultural life of the country,” said Rivas.
