The façade of the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña has been wearing the LGTBI+ flag for a few days in a symbolic gesture of support for this group. With this action, according to subdelegate María Rivas, “the Government of Spain wants to make visible its firm commitment to the defense of the rights and freedoms of all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Rivas pointed out the importance of continuing to move towards a more just and egalitarian society, in which the various affective and sexual realities are recognized and respected. “There is no place for hatred, discrimination or regression. The rights of the LGBTI+ community are human rights, and as such they must be protected,” said the deputy delegate.
In recent years, the Government of Spain has promoted pioneering policies on equality and diversity, such as the approval of the Trans Law or the LGTBI+ State Strategy, thus consolidating the country as an international reference in the defense of the rights of the collective.
