The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated this morning in the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE), of the University of Santiago de Compostela, in an event that was also attended by the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, the rector of the USC, Antonio López, the mayor, Goretti Sanmartín, and the director of the Institute, Carlos Alberto Salgado, in addition to the conselleiro of Education, Science, Universities and Román.
The IGFAE investigates the fundamental structure of the universe, what are the fundamental particles and how they interact, how microscopic and cosmological structures are formed and what are the limits of known theories.
This Institute has the recognition of Unit of Excellence María de Maetzu with which the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities accredits the best research centers that stand out for relevance and impact, at an international level, of research results.
