The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, urged this Wednesday to continue fighting against male violence, after the Ministry of Equality declared as gender violence the crimes that took place in Fuengirola (Malaga) and Getafe (Madrid).
"These crimes shock us, but in reality violence against women is increasingly present in our society. The Security Forces and Corps are at the forefront of this fight and the institutions and political and judicial authorities must accompany the victims and make this drama visible," said the deputy delegate.
Eladio Santos presided this morning an act of revulsion against these crimes before the Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense, together with its personnel, representatives of other institutions and members of the National Police and the Civil Guard. All of them observed a minute of silence for the two victims, which bring to 16 the number of women killed by gender violence in Spain in 2025 and to 1,310 since 2003.
Apart from the two confirmed cases, lamented the subdelegate, the Government Delegation against Gender Violence is collecting data on the crime of a woman and her son in Algemesí (Valencia) for alleged gender violence.
