The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today stressed the value of the entities of the Social Economy in Galicia for their triple contribution to the Galician economic and social fabric by generating stable employment, promoting territorial cohesion and promoting social innovation at the service of the common good. He did so during the celebration of the Day of the Galician Social Economy, which is organized today in Santiago by the Forum for the Galician Social Economy (Foro Esgal).
The delegate reviewed the figures that demonstrate this relevance in different areas. Thus, in respect of job creation, Pedro Blanco indicated that in the last year the number of people employed in these entities grew in Galicia by about 5%, and many of these companies and cooperatives are based in small villages and rural municipalities, where they act as dynamizers.
With regard to social innovation, the delegate named the resilience of these entities and their capacity to adapt to changes in the productive fabric and society. Pedro Blanco highlighted the Government’s commitment to the Social Economy, which translates into new regulations and also investments. In this last aspect, he valued the PERTE of the Social Economy and Care, within the Recovery Plan, which has mobilized 160 million euros in Galicia for the transformation of these entities and the services they offer.
In fact, he said that six projects of entities of the social economy of Galicia have just reached 4.7 million euros from the last call for aid of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, “for new business projects and technological improvements in the already existing ones”.
The delegate concluded his speech by reiterating the hand extended by the Government of Spain to all entities of the social economy of Galicia to “continue working together to promote this sector and place it at the center of the new model of responsible economy promoted by this Government.”
