The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today transferred to the cooperativists of Xuxán the commitment of the Ministry of Housing to guarantee the social character of the public housing model of this Coruña neighborhood. He did so in a meeting with seven cooperative members of residential projects in this neighborhood, to whom he insisted that the Government works with the priority objective that the projects of construction of public housing for affordable rent in Xuxán be materialized according to the conditions defined initially.
At the meeting, in which the deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated, the delegate pointed out the concern of the Government ahead of the event with this cooperative. He reminded them that the increases in contributions presented by the manager to the cooperative members are not linked to changes in the financing conditions of the ICO, since this financing is still under study. And he gave them the support of the Government, the Ministry and the minister herself for the implementation of this public housing project for social rent, just as similar projects are being implemented in other Spanish cities and also in the neighborhood of Xuxán itself.
In this line, he pointed out that the ICO line for this type of projects already has 58 operations signed in Spain worth 715 million financing that already allow the construction of 6,119 homes.
The delegate recalled that the Ministry is in contact with the Xunta to which he conveyed the urgent need for this tender not to become a cooperative of investors, thus losing its social character.
At the meeting, the delegate offered a permanent channel of contact and advice with the ministerial department, after the first contact they had last month to know first-hand the reality of the situation.
