The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, encouraged the Galician youth not to miss the opportunity and apply for scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports for the next academic year, remembering that the process ends on Wednesday, May 14. He analyzed the details of this call and thanked the minister, Pilar Alegría, for her dedication and work, “which promoted an historic budget for the 2025/2026 academic year in favor of the student and work future of our youth.”
Pedro Blanco put in value the record financial contribution of this call, which amounts to 2,544 million euros, and recalled that, already for the present course, the Galician students received 132 M€, which means increasing the funds in eight years by 59%. “With actions like this, there is no doubt that the government is on the side of the Galician students, ensuring that they can train and improve their future,” said the delegate.
In this regard, he stressed that the Government of Spain increased by more than 47% the average amount of scholarships in Galicia since the 2017/2018 academic year, in such a way that Galician families went from receiving an average of 1,792.32 euros in the 2017/2018 academic year, to 2,637.44 euros in the last closed call, of this same course.
Pedro Blanco recalled, with regard to the call for study grants for students and students with specific support needs, that the Ministry made available to them the proposal of their applications for study grants on April 30 and that they will be available until September 11.

This measure has a great impact on rural Galicia due to its population dispersion.
Another novelty is that which benefits students of higher studies of artistic teachings, which this course is considered for all purposes university students through the Law of Artistic Teachings approved last year. This guarantees them access to scholarships on equal terms with the rest of the students.
There is also a 25% increase in the fixed amounts for university students and students with higher artistic education who demonstrate a disability of 25% to 65%, a measure that complements the one already applied to students with disabilities equal to or greater than 65%.
Finally, the academic requirements are made more flexible for those older people who demonstrate the status of victims of sexual violence, to equip them to minors in the same situation and to victims of gender violence.
