The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today encouraged the more than 15,200 young men and women of Galicia who benefit from the Young Cultural Bonus to dedicate a part of this fund to acquire a book, coinciding with the celebration, tomorrow, April 23, of the International Book Day.
Pedro Blanco made this call today in the bookstore ‘Arenas’, in A Coruña, one of the affiliated establishments of the Ministry of Culture, where he acquired a copy of María Oruña and another of Manuel Rivas, showing the support for local bookstores “which are a true example of the importance of local commerce, making culture and generating wealth”. In this regard, the delegate valued the work of professionals in the book sector in Galicia and conveyed the full support of the Government of Spain in economic matters, innovation, training and promotion of reading “strengthening a fundamental industry for our country”.
The delegate stressed that in the three years that this aid was called, more than 43,000 people born between 2004 and 2006 benefited from it, mobilizing a total of 17.2 million euros to spend on all types of cultural products. These figures, said Pedro Blanco, support the double impact of this program and justify its creation: a direct impact on the young population, which can access a variety of cultural manifestations and products, and an indirect impact on cultural industries, from entities to commercial establishments.
With the concession, the person receives a card worth 400 euros to spend on culture, in any of the industries and cultural businesses adhered to the program. From the granting of the aid, they have one year to use it in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments.
The Cultural Voucher works with a prepayment card that the beneficiary can have virtually on his mobile or receive physically at home. With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three sections to favor the diversification of spending, with the following distribution:
• 100 euros for physical products, for example, books, press or discs.
• 100 euros for digital products, such as platform subscriptions, digital press, podcast or online video games.
• 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums...
