The delegate of the Government in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, celebrated today that 15 companies in Galicia obtained 3.6 million euros in the last call of the Program "Science and Innovation Missions", which opens the doors to participate in 10 of the strategic projects selected by the Government in this public call and that exceed 23 million public-private investment.
Pedro Blanco detailed today the impact in Galicia of this program of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which manages the Center for Technological Development and Innovation-CDTI with funds from the Recovery Plan. In particular, said the delegate, “Galicia receives about 7% of the funds granted in the last resolution of this program, and reaches sixth place among the communities in volume of economic impact,” allowing the participation of Galician companies in these ten investigations together with other companies and research centers and universities from the rest of Spain.
On the projects with Galician participation, the delegate pointed out that they cover strategic sectors such as security, digital health, efficient construction, the sustainability of the food industry (both in production and packaging), or logistics. The projects of disruptive technologies in areas such as photonics, aerostructures, quantum computing, food, sensoric, zero or low emissions and artificial intelligence stand out.
Pedro Blanco stressed that “seven of the selected companies are SMEs, which shows the capacity and interest in innovation that this part of the business fabric of Galicia has”. With regard to the sectors of activity, the presence of companies related to the wood sector, the chemical industry or the technology industry stands out.
In total, the Ministry of Science and Innovation granted in this call 83.5 million euros of grants to promote 49 projects throughout Spain, which will mobilize a public-private investment of 134.7 million euros. In the case of Galicia, the projects in which Galician companies participate will mobilize 23 million euros, of which 14 million are contributed by the Government of Spain within this call.
