The subdelegate of the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, advanced today that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will face the rehabilitation of the firm of the N-540 as it passes through the province after Holy Week. From these festive dates, the action will enter a new phase in which the renewal of the entire firm will be promoted, as indicated in the contract, to improve road safety in this section.
The Government invests about 11 million euros in the integral renovation of the road between km 0.000 and 68,900, in the province of Lugo. This work includes the structural and superficial rehabilitation of the firm and those complementary activities that are necessary to maintain service levels.
As far as the firm is concerned, the work will consist mainly of a milling of part of the existing firm, followed by a relapse in several layers among which additional elements of adhesion will be available. In the singular areas, which are the most deteriorated, a demolition of the entire firm package will be carried out first, followed by an excavation of one meter in depth to finally replenish the firm layers.
Also, the regularization of the arcéns will be necessary, especially to ensure the safety of cyclists and motorcyclists. After this, the road markings will be repainted and the marking elements will be arranged.
The work includes the replacement of other additional elements, such as the abutment stations and the expansion joints of the existing bridges in the section.
