The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, made an appeal to fight “day by day” against the structural violence that machismo represents in society. He did so this morning in A Coruña during the act of condemnation for the murder of male violence in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, following the confirmation of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence.
“Today I want to emphasize the importance of denouncing it. Denounce any act of violence that is suffered, whatever it may be. Because we, both the administrations and the Security Forces, are there to help you, to act and to fight, together with all of you and hand in hand, against machismo,” said the Delegate.
Pedro Blanco expressed his solidarity with the family and the victims’ acquaintances and reiterated the Government’s commitment to continue working together to eliminate any type of violence against women.
Elde Diana, a 48-year-old Honduran woman, allegedly murdered by her partner, is the first murder due to gender violence so far this year in Gran Canaria, increasing the total number of women in 2025 throughout Spain to 8. With the latter case, 1,302 fatalities have already been added since 2003, when data began to be collected.
