The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo chaired today, together with the Mayor of Viveiro, Mariña Gueimunde, the Local Xunta of Security of the City Council, a meeting in which the security forces and bodies also participated to coordinate the protection devices planned for Holy Week 2025 and other important events, such as the mountain race CAMOVI.
During the meeting, the subdelegate stressed the importance of strengthening police forces to guarantee the safe development of the Holy Week of Havana, in which a massive influx is expected year after year.
In addition, the balance of citizen security in the municipality was analyzed, which reflects a decrease in prison infractions of 11.6% in 2024, with 49 crimes less than the previous year. The drop is especially notable in minor crimes, which fell from 232 to 158 cases, and in complaints of gender violence, which in 2025 is five, without registering any violation so far.
The board also addressed the prevention and awareness plans that take place in the locality, such as the 63 talks held in the Viveiro educational centers on internet risks, bullying, the environment or professional guidance, as well as the training sessions aimed at the elderly about safety on the network.
