The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, presided this morning the act of taking possession of the new head of the Command of the Civil Guard of Lugo, Luis Germán Avilés. During the event, in which he was accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in the province, Isabel Rodríguez, and by the general head of the 15 zone of the Civil Guard, Miguel Ángel González, the delegate entrusted the new person responsible “the task of responding to the security needs of the province and consolidating Lugo as one of the safest territories in Spain”.
The delegate stressed that Lugo has a crime rate 19 points lower than the national average and stressed the commitment of the Civil Guard to citizen security in a “complex, dispersed territory, with a very particular orography and with an aging population that requires constant attention.”
Pedro Blanco added value to the trajectory of the new head of the command, who “will put his extensive experience at the service of this province and the men and women of the Command.” Strengthening the fight against gender violence will be one of its main areas of action, since 384 women are protected daily by the Civil Guard in the province. Likewise, the growing problem of cybercrime, among other issues, will continue to be alleviated.
The government delegate also thanked the former chief, Manuel Touceda, recently appointed chief colonel of the Pontevedra Command, and also Lieutenant Colonel Julio González, for the services provided in recent years in Lugo, reiterating the support of the Delegation and the Government Subdelegation “to achieve the best results, because the successes of the Command will also be the successes of the neighbors of this province.”
