The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the commitment of the Government with the transformation of Ferrol and announced a new milestone in the progress of the humanization works of the Avenida das Pías: the opening to traffic next Friday, April 11, of the second stretch between the FE-11 and Marqués de Santa Cruz. He did so after presiding today at a new meeting of the commission to follow up the humanization work of Avenida das Pías, where the progress of the reform implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility was analyzed.
The meeting was attended by the mayor of Ferrol, José Manuel Rey, along with several members of the local government; the head of the Road Demarcation in Galicia, Ángel González del Río, and the director of the work, as well as representatives of the neighborhood groups of the neighborhoods where this performance goes.
The subdelegate of the Government stressed that the work of humanization of the Avenida de las Pías exemplifies the way in which the Government is to face those infrastructures that directly affect the life of the citizens. Thus, he recalled that during the execution different communication channels were enabled between the executing company and neighborhood in addition to being a follow-up commission, with the participation of all the groups involved in this project.
In this sense, he indicated that today’s meeting served to incorporate some modifications to the project, such as the restitution of all the urban bus stops before the works, the maintenance of the double sense in Lepanto Street, as well as other technical issues related to the use of the spaces, the finishes or the signage. “Both the Government and the Concello de Ferrol are listening but also to respond to the neighbors of these neighborhoods, who in the end are the ones who will benefit most from this action,” said Rivas.
“The remodeling of the Pias will transform the physiognomy of the main entrance of the city of Ferrol, creating a boulevard of more than one kilometer in length and connecting at the same level the neighborhoods of the environment, making a city more accessible and friendly to the neighborhood,” said the subdelegate, who stressed that “all the Administrations are working in the same direction and with the same objective, which is none other than to improve the quality of life of the railways and the railways,” she concluded.
