The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided today with the mayor of Fene, Juventino Trigo, the local Xunta of Security of the municipality in which they highlighted the collaboration between the Civil Guard and the local Police to make Fene “a safe city council, as evidenced by its crime rate (19 crimes per thousand inhabitants), which represents half of the average of the province (38 crimes per thousand) and well below the national average (50 crimes per thousand),” said Rivas, who also highlighted the fact that the rate of clarification is above 50%.
The deputy delegate, who encouraged the further strengthening of this work and the collaboration between the security forces and bodies, also highlighted the good reception of the Master Plan for School Coexistence in the concello, which promotes training activities for the entire school community in charge of the Security Forces and Bodies in the schools and in this case the Civil Guard. In Fene, the 6 educational centers hosted a total of 61 activities in which 1,228 people participated, among students and teachers. They addressed topics such as bullying and cyberbullying, gender violence, drug and alcohol consumption, new additions to video games and betting or the use of new technologies. The mayor and the deputy delegate agreed on new ways of collaborating to develop joint activities of the Master Plan with the third pillar of the educational community, the families and the Anpas.
VioGene
The deputy delegate and the mayor of Fene also analyzed the data provided by the victim protection system VioGén in the province of A Coruña, which currently has 2,680 active cases of gender violence. “Behind each of these cases is a woman who is a priority for the government. All the work is little to guarantee their protection,” said Rivas, who stressed that collaboration and coordination by all institutions is indispensable in the fight against gender violence.
In this regard, the subdelegate encouraged the City of Fene to have an Interinstitutional Coordination Table against Gender Violence and join the VioGén System to reinforce this collaboration. This request was taken up by the mayor who ratified the commitment to the immediate incorporation of Fene into the VioGén system of the Ministry of the Interior aimed at monitoring and protecting women victims of gender violence and their sons and daughters. María Rivas added that the City of Fene received from 2018 the amount of 48,495€ in the framework of the State Pact against Gender Violence for the development of activities for prevention and awareness in this matter.
“All administrations and institutions must work hand in hand to make available to the victims all the necessary resources to help them get out of this situation and guarantee the right to a life without fear, to them and their families,” concluded Rivas.
